‘Kilian has a remarkable perception of sound quality and is one of very few people in the world that has his own recognizable musical voice’ Maxim Vengerov
Kilian van Rooij is one of todays most talented modern passionate musicians and musical entrepreneurs. Besides his regular solo recitals as a concert violinist, Kilian is also a composer and Co-founder/Artistic director of the EDELWEISS Festival.
With his music Kilian brings a fresh sound within the classical genre, meant to reach a larger and younger audience, creating a bridge to traditional classical music.
‘I want to make music for everyone. Music that tells a story, is exciting and goes straight into your heart’ Kilian

- deel I, Allegro moderato (Arr.)
This piece for solo violin and string orchestra was commissioned by Stichting Benjamin Britten Orkesten as a mandatory piece for the Britten Concours. It was written at the height of the Corona pandemic and is my personal reflection of how our western safe haven turned out not to be that safe after all.
I composed the music for a small (but dramatic) video that is part of exhibition 'Red de moeflon' in 'Het Nationale Park De Hoge Veluwe'.
‘2020’ is a piece for string octet commissioned by ‘ROctet’. An incredible ensemble consisting of prominent string players from the Netherlands Radio Philharmonic Orchestra.
I am very honored to announce that I will be recording my very first solo album with the amazing guys from TRPTK!
